In 1908, Hans Henning was the first to publish a biographical compilation and material collection on Karl Philipp Moritz . The biography of Friedrich Spielhagen, which Hans Henning wrote, was attested "thoroughness and conscientiousness", but also a "benevolent partisanship" based on the friendship with the writer. The history of German literature, founded by Erich Schulze, who died in World War I in 1915, was expanded and continued by Hans Henning and was published in its fourth edition in 1940.
