Hans Heusser

Hans Heusser (born August 8, 1892 in Zurich ; † October 27, 1942 in St. Gallen ) was a Swiss composer and conductor .

Hans Heusser played an important role as a pianist when " Dada Zurich" was founded around 1916 , although he never belonged to the core of the movement. Nevertheless, he achieved quite a stir, which found expression on May 25, 1917 in a "Soirée Hans Heusser". From 1924 he lived as city music director in St. Gallen. As a composer he was best known for the Russian Rhapsody , which was performed a lot at the time, conducted by himself on gramophone record, and which was set as a compulsory piece for the 3rd class wind orchestras at the 28th Swiss Federal Music Festival in Winterthur in 1986. Likewise, his well-known marches, z. B. the march pilot Mittelholzer , dedicated to the Swiss aviation pioneer , can be found again and again on the programs of the wind orchestras in Switzerland.
