Hans Hofinger

Hans Hofinger (born February 27, 1950 in Straß im Attergau ) is an Austrian lawyer , economist and business educator . He was an association attorney from 1985 and chairman of the board of the Austrian cooperative association from 2001 until his retirement in 2015 . From 2009 to 2012 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Österreichische Volksbanken-Aktiengesellschaft .

Life

Hans Hofinger graduated from the Stiftsgymnasium Kremsmünster in 1969 . He then studied law at the University of Salzburg as well as business education and economics at the universities of Linz , Innsbruck , St. Gallen and Vienna . In 1974 he worked as an academic assistant at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law at the Vienna University of Economics and Business with Robert Walter . He received his doctorate in 1973 in Salzburg as a Doctor of Law and in 1975 in Vienna as a Magister rer. soc. oec. in business education and in Innsbruck in economics and in 1978 in Vienna as a doctor. soc. oec. in economics. Since 2017 he has been completing a master's degree in religious studies at the University of Vienna.

From 1975 until his retirement on February 28, 2015, Hans Hofinger worked with short interruptions in the Austrian Volksbankenverbund , initially from 1975 to 1978 in the Österreichische Volksbanken-Aktiengesellschaft (VB-AG) as an employee in the legal department and then until 1984 as head of the legal department and the board secretariat, between 1976 as managing director of Volksbank Zwettl and 1982/1983 board member and managing director of Volksbank Linz, from January 1, 1985 as association attorney and member of the board, and from August 1, 2001 as chairman of the Austrian cooperative association (Schulze-Delitzsch) . From May 28, 2009 to April 26, 2012 he was chairman of the supervisory board of Österreichische Volksbanken-Aktiengesellschaft .

At the international level, Hans Hofinger worked from 1992 as Vice President (or from September 15, 2000 to October 10, 2003 as President) of the Brussels- based international association of people's banks, CIBP (Confédération International des Banques Populaires). He is also a member of the General Council of the Union of Cooperative Banks in the European Union (Groupement) .

He also performed numerous important functions within the framework of the Austrian Cooperative Association and in companies of the Austrian Volksbanken Group , in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce , in universities and in numerous other areas. He is also a chapter member of the Old Order of St. George . Hofinger has been a member of the Austrian Lawyers' Association since 1982 and a member of the board of trustees of the Austrian Banking Society (BWG) since 1985.

Hofinger has been married since 1978.

In 2000, he was the resolution with Federal President by the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Culture Mrs Federal Minister Elisabeth Gehrer the title of Professor conferred.

Hans Hofinger is the author of numerous publications in the areas of cooperatives , banking and business ethics .
