Hans Hubert Anton

Hans Hubert Anton (* 26. October 1936 in Koenen ) is a German historian with the territory medieval history and Auxiliary Historical Sciences .

After graduating from high school in Saarburg, Hans Hubert Anton studied history and classical philology at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz from 1957 to 1962 (state examination) and at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn until 1966. In the period from 1962 to 1966 he was research assistant and scientific assistant to Eugen Ewig at the universities mentioned , where he received his doctorate in 1966 with the dissertation Fürstenspiegel and Herrscherethos in the Carolingian era . In 1967 he received the Bonn University Prize for this work. After further years of assistantship, he completed his habilitation in 1970 with the text Studies on the monastic privileges of the popes in the early Middle Ages for the area of ​​medieval and modern history. From 1970 to 2002 he taught medieval history and historical auxiliary sciences at the University of Trier .

From 1987 to 2000 he headed a sub-project in the DFG Collaborative Research Center 235 Between Meuse and Rhine and from 1995 to 2000 the DFG project Regesten of the Bishops and Archbishops of Trier in the Middle Ages , from 1996 he was a member of the Graduate School Western Europe in a comparative perspective . His research focuses on the history of political ideas and the constitutional history of the Middle Ages , political journalism in the Middle Ages and diplomacy .
