Hans Kals

Hans Kals (born September 16, 1927 in Aachen , † June 4, 1989 in Meran ) was a German writer, dialect poet and economist .

Live and act

Hans Kals grew up in hair and, after graduating from elementary school, attended the trade school in Aachen from 1942 to 1944 . After the end of the war he took a job at the Aachen-Stadt tax office and became a tax inspector. He also attended the Administration and Business Academy and graduated with a diploma. In 1955 he was transferred to the regional finance office in Cologne , where he stayed until 1964.

In 1957, he was admitted to study via a detour test for talented students . In addition to his professional activities, he began law to study, but moved very quickly to the economics and made 1963 his exams. From 1964 he taught as a qualified commercial teacher at the vocational school and higher commercial school in Aachen. In 1970 he did his doctorate at the then higher business school in Mönchengladbach . His dissertation on The Social Question in Romanticism was later published as a book (Hanstein-Verlag, Cologne 1974, ISBN 3-7756-6291-X ).

Hans Kals is considered one of the co-founders of the “Economics” department at the Aachen University of Applied Sciences . He has taught there since 1971 and promoted the expansion.

In addition to his work as a professor, Hans Kals made a name for himself as a writer and dialect poet. As early as the 1960s he had translated several books from French for Herder-Verlag . This was followed by a few short stories in magazines and in 1981 the first book Ein Heldengedenken . Parallel to his studies, he had dealt with social history and psychology. This knowledge flowed into his other books, in particular Put yourself in his shoes - How to deal with your aggressions . He also wrote numerous poems and prose pieces in Aachen dialect, some of which were published in Aachen newspapers. In 1984 he was one of the founders of the Haaren / Verlautenheide home association.

Hans Kals had been married since 1962. His wife Berta Kals was a visual artist and was best known for her time-critical Christmas cribs . From this marriage there were three children. Hans Kals died in June 1989 on a lecture tour in Italy.
