Hans Karl (politician, 1922)

Hans Karl (born January 5, 1922 in Griesheim ; † July 6, 1996 ) was a Hessian politician and from 1968 to 1987 mayor of the city of Griesheim for the SPD and previously a member of the Hessian state parliament .

education and profession

Hans Karl did a commercial apprenticeship after attending elementary school, the commercial vocational school and the administrative seminar. Between 1941 and 1946 he did military service and since his return from captivity in 1946 he worked in the public service.

politics

Hans Karl was a member of the SPD and was district chairman of the SPD in the Darmstadt district from 1963 to 1970 . He was a member of the district council of Darmstadt and Darmstadt-Dieburg since 1956, where he was chairman of the SPD parliamentary group from 1956 to 1977 and then deputy chairman.

From 1956 to 1968 Hans Karl was first alderman of the municipality of Gräfenhausen and from 1968 to 1987 mayor of Griesheim.

From July 5, 1963 to April 16, 1968 he was a member of the Hessian state parliament. In 1964 he was a member of the 4th Federal Assembly .

Hans Karl died in 1996, the market square in the center of Griesheim was later renamed Hans-Karl-Platz in his honor.
