Hans Knauer (entertainer)

Hans Knauer (born July 10, 1932 in Leipzig ; † March 10, 2015 in Lohmen ) was a German entertainer , cabaret artist , author, singer and composer. On GDR television he was one of the regular cast of the program "Klock 8, Achtern Strom" .

Life

Influenced by his father, who played the violin himself, Hans Knauer has been concerned with music since childhood. Among other things, he learned the guitar and accordion . In 1949 he was concertmaster of a school orchestra. In 1953 he began to study music with a focus on composition, which he did not complete.

From 1956 he composed incidental music for the Leipzig theater. In addition, he wrote poems and texts for cabaret, including for Die Distel . From 1970 until the program was discontinued in 1990, he worked as a barkeeper at the Hafenbar in the entertainment series Klock 8, aft stream of the German TV broadcaster , and thus achieved a high level of awareness in the GDR. From 1974 to 2004 he performed his solo show under the title Hans Knauer and the group Ich . He has authored several books of humorous poetry, especially Limericks .

Hans Knauer lived in Hinzenhagen in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania for a long time until he moved to an old people's home after the death of his wife in 2007 due to his Alzheimer's disease and finally died there in spring 2015.
