Hans Kurz

Hans Kurz (* around 1550 in Memhölz , Fürststift Kempten ; † 1608, according to other sources 1601 in Heilbronn ; also Hans Kurtz ) was a German builder at the time of the Renaissance .

In 1571 Kurz worked for the Teutonic Order in Ellingen , where he also married his wife Cordula. In 1576 he came to Heilbronn and received citizenship in 1578. From 1579 to around 1600 he rebuilt the Heilbronn town hall in the Renaissance style and expanded it several times. So in 1593 a large north wing was built, later containing the council chamber, which enclosed a common inner courtyard with the complex of new chancellery and syndicate building that was built between 1590 and 1600 to the northeast . Kurz worked on other buildings in Heilbronn such as the Barefoot Monastery and the Bollwerksturm and was also appointed to external palace buildings, including Stettenfels , Kirchberg an der Jagst and Döttingen am Kocher .
