Hans Lachenberger

Hans Lachenberger (born March 22, 1831 in Torgau , † April 12, 1891 in Lübeck ) was a German composer .

Life

After dropping out of law school, he studied composition and violin at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Leipzig from 1853 and from 1857 worked as the first violinist in the Wittenberg City Orchestra . In 1861 he took over the position of Kapellmeister and wrote his first commissioned works, mostly vocal works and chamber music. After a serious illness, Lachenberger withdrew from musical life in 1875 and devoted himself to nature observation until his death.

Works

He composed several vocal works, including a requiem; also chamber music, etc. a. six wind quintets, as well as some instrumental concerts.
