Hans Lanz (born November 17, 1867 in Bern , † April 11, 1941 in Thun , reformed , resident in Thun and Madiswil ) was a Swiss politician (BGB) .

Life

Hans Lanz was born on November 17, 1867 in Bern as the son of Jakob Lanz and Elise, born Fischer. Hans Lanz, a trained businessman , was the owner of a freight forwarding and coal business in Thun. He also held board memberships in the Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon-Bahn , various regional railways and Kraftwerke Oberhasli AG. He also served in the Swiss Army with the rank of colonel .

Hans Lanz was married to Elise Ida, the daughter of Otto Hüssy. He died on April 11, 1941, five months after he had turned 73 in Thun.

Political work

Hans Lanz was initially represented at the municipal level between 1895 and 1918 as chief financial officer in the Thun municipal council, of which he was president from 1904 . He was also a member of the Bern Grand Council from 1911 to 1918 . In the period before and during the First World War, Hans Lanz played a decisive role in the structural and community-organizational development of Thun. In addition, he was elected to the National Council in 1925 as a shop steward for the farmers ', trade and citizens' party , where he was involved in commercial matters as a leading figure in Bern's economy. As an opponent of the proportional representation system , he announced his resignation from this office after only three years.
