Hans Laux

Hans Laux (born December 31, 1929 in Cologne ) is a German actuary in the field of building society mathematics, who has significantly shaped building society savings , former manager and author of the standard work, building society finance .

Life

Laux studied mathematics with an economic focus in Cologne from 1950 to 1954 , where he also received his doctorate . His dissertation is entitled About Open Insurance Funds with Average Premiums with Distribution of Access Age over an Age Interval . Following his habilitation in 1983 at the University of Karlsruhe with the habilitation thesis Advanced Bausparechnik , Laux was awarded the Venia Legendi for the field of insurance and building society savings. Since then he has been active in teaching, initially as a private lecturer , and from 1990 as an adjunct professor at the economics faculty . Until 2003, Laux held lectures and seminars.

Laux spent his first professional positions until 1962 in company and professional pension schemes . In 1962 he began his work as chief mathematician at Wüstenrot Bausparkasse AG in Ludwigsburg . At Wüstenrot Lebensversicherung AG (now integrated into Württembergische Lebensversicherung AG) he was CEO from 1977. His activities for Wüstenrot ended in 1994.

During his active professional life and afterwards, Laux was represented in various committees of professional and scientific organizations, including a member of the board of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Versicherungsmathematik (1978–1998) and responsible for training and examining prospective actuaries in building society mathematics.
