Hans Ludwig von Ulm (from 1622 Imperial Baron of Ulm zu Erbach) (* 1567 in Wangen am Untersee , † July 16, 1627 in Marbach am Untersee ) was Vice Chancellor of the Holy Roman Empire from 1613 .

Life

He came from the noble family of Ulm and was the brother of the later Prince Abbot of Kempten Heinrich VIII. Of Ulm-Langenrhein . Von Ulm studied in Freiburg im Breisgau from 1585 . He was then from 1590 to 1593 assessor at the Reich Chamber of Commerce . Between 1593 and 1603 he was a member of the Reichshofrat . He was then a member of the Privy Council until 1623. In 1613 he was appointed Reich Vice Chancellor. He was one of the leading members of the "Catholic party" at the court of Emperor Matthias , which opposed the compromise policy of Melchior Khlesl , who determined the political course. In 1622 he was made an imperial baron and enfeoffed with the rule of Erbach . He was the master of Erbach Castle and in Marbach, Wangen and Mittelbiberach . In 1603 he married Euphrosine Schad von Mittelbiberach zu Warthausen.
