Hans Meinhold

Hans Meinhold , actually Ernst Paul Johannes Meinhold (born September 11, 1888 in Sandow , Pyritz district ; † December 7, 1968 ) was a German pastor and Low German writer.

Ernst Paul Johannes Meinhold grew up in Barth , where his father was superintendent. He studied theology in Halle and Greifswald . From 1914 he was pastor in Kantreck , Cammin district . Then he was pastor in Ueckermünde and Voigtshagen , district of Greifenberg . In 1929 Meinhold went to Cuxhaven , where he also worked as a naval pastor for some time. During his retirement from 1955 he worked as a pastor in Harburg .

Meinhold wrote Low German songs and poems. From 1949 to 1958 he worked on a translation of the Bible into Low German verse. The manuscript has been in the Low German Bible Center in Barth since 2001 .

Meinhold's three sons died in World War II .
