Hans Otto Gericke

Hans Otto Gericke (born March 9, 1933 in Magdeburg ; † August 25, 2016 ) was a German educator , historian and professor at the Otto von Guericke University in Magdeburg .

Life

Hans Otto Gericke studied history, geography and education at the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg . From 1955 to 1965 he was a high school teacher . In 1965 he became an employee of the Pedagogical Institute Magdeburg, where he received his Dr. PhD. In 1982 he was appointed professor of history at the Magdeburg University of Education, where he taught until 1997 (from 1993: Otto von Guericke University). From 1985 to 1988 he taught abroad at the Instituto Superior de Ciências da Educação in Lubango ( Angola ).

Hans Otto Gericke is the author of several publications with a focus on the mining and industrial history of Saxony-Anhalt
