Hans Redlbach

Hans Redlbach (born February 1, 1943 in Flöhau , Podersam district ; † August 3, 1990 in Berlin ) was a German set designer, film architect and television producer.

Life

His parents Elisabeth and Erich Redlbach fled with their son in 1945 to Rebsdorf in the Vogelsberg district of Schlüchtern. In 1952 the family moved to Frankfurt am Main. When he was ten years old, his mother died. The father married again. Hans Redlbach lost his father at the age of 14. His stepmother Berta Redlbach continued to take care of him and his upbringing. She supported his career aspiration to become a set designer.

Hans Redlbach studied in Düsseldorf at the art academy with Teo Otto , who employed him as his assistant at an early age and placed him at the Bern City Theater as chief stage designer. In 1966, Hans Redlbach came to Berlin and worked as a set designer under Helmut Käutner at the Schiller Theater.

From 1967 he worked as a film architect for SFB and UFA Bertelsmann under the direction of Werner Mietzner . He worked with the directors Thomas Engel , Rainer Wohlfahrt , Jo Hentschel , Jürgen Tögel . From the mid-1970s he also worked as a producer at Ufa. Inge Meysel celebrated some of her late successes due to working with Hans Redlbach.

In 1979, Hans Redlbach founded Phoenix Film with Karlheinz Brunnemann . Until his death in 1990, Phoenix Film produced evening series and television films under the direction of Hans Redlbach.
