Blšany (German Flöhau near Podersam ) is a town with 938 inhabitants (as an urban district, January 1, 2004) in the Czech Republic .
Geographical location
The city is located in western Bohemia , 5 km southeast of Podbořany ( Podersam ), at 277 m above sea level. M. on the Blšanka ( Goldbach ), a tributary to the Eger .
history
The first mention of Blšany comes from the year 1238. In the 14th century Flöhau received city rights. The brewery was founded in 1588 by the landlords, the noble Lobkowicz von Hassenstein family . In 1716 and 1717 the parish church was renewed. On October 31, 1825, the Flöhauer church was destroyed by fire.
After the Munich Agreement , the annexation of the city took place in 1938 Flöhau to the German Reich as part of the district Podersam , Region of Eger , in the Reich District of Sudetenland .
In 1939, 734 people lived in the city, mainly German Bohemians , who were expelled after the Second World War.
After the Second World War, Blšany lost its town charter and got it back in October 2006. The city also became known through the former first division soccer club FK Chmel Blšany .

Community structure
The town of Blšany consists of the districts Blšany ( Flöhau ), Liběšovice ( Lischwitz ), Malá Černoc ( Kleintschernitz ), Siřem ( Zürau ), Soběchleby ( Oberklee ) and Stachov ( Stachl ), which also form cadastral districts. The hamlet of Čárka ( Zarch ) also belongs to Blšany .
