Rudolf Kummerer

Rudolf Kummerer (born December 27, 1883 in Flöhau , Bohemia ; † August 15, 1961 in Spittal an der Drau , Carinthia ) was an Austrian composer .

The wind musician and Carinthian regional music director created numerous marches that are still popular today . From 1933 to 1936 and 1946 to 1948 Kummerer was Kapellmeister of the Kolbnitz music band . As the regional conductor of Carinthia, he played a major role in the development of brass music in Carinthia. The Großglockner March was performed on the occasion of the opening ceremony for the 12th anniversary of the Großglockner High Alpine Road on August 3, 1947 on the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe .
