Hans Ruch (born September 8, 1898 - † August 8, 1947 ) was a German football player.

Career

The striker , who has been described as an agile right winger, initially played for Union 92 Berlin . Although this club no longer played a major role in Germany, it managed to make the player Hans Ruch a national player in 1925. He played two international matches, namely against Sweden and Finland.

But Ruch then switched to Hertha BSC , which is now a first-class club. The Berliners had a pretty strong team together. Hanne Sobek , Karl Tewes and Willi Kirsei were new to the team along with Ruch. In 1926, Ruch was also used in his first final for the German championship. Although he scored the opening goal against SpVgg Fürth , Hertha lost 4-1. In the following year it was only enough for the runner-up. They lost 0-2 against 1. FC Nürnberg . And the final defeats continued: In 1928 the team had no chance against Hamburger SV in the 2-5 defeat; In 1929 the opponent was again called SpVgg Fürth, who this time only scored the 3-2 winning goal in the 85th minute. Before that, however, the Berlin team had defeated last year's champions Nuremberg with the same result.

It was not until 1930 that the Herthaners could celebrate the championship. At 40 degrees in the shade, Holstein Kiel and Hertha BSC fought a real battle for the title. If it was already 3: 3 at halftime, Hertha was leading 4: 3, the Kielers lost Johannes Ludewig by sending off and still got a 4: 4. When everything had already come to terms with an extension, Hans Ruch came free-standing in front of Kiel in the 87th minute and left goalkeeper Alfred Kramer no chance. The final result was 5: 4.

Ruch had already been allowed to play in the national team again. In the 1-1 draw against Scotland in Berlin, Ruch scored the German goal, but his national team career was over.

In 1931 the Berlin team won the next title. 1860 Munich was defeated 3-2 in the final, with Kirsei not making the winning goal until the penultimate minute. In 1932, Hertha only came in second in the regional finals behind Minerva 93 Berlin and not at all in the finals. Minerva Berlin was kicked out of the competition in the first round.

Hans Ruch's career ended in 1935 after a double fracture in the shin. Twelve years later the trained electrician died of an insidious illness.
