Karl Tewes (born August 18, 1886 in Berlin ; † September 7, 1968 ) was a German football player .

Career

The stopper and development player (nowadays his position is called a midfielder ) began his career at Askania Berlin . But at the age of 18 he said goodbye to football and learned to be a blacksmith. But nine years later he returned and came to Viktoria 89 Berlin via Union 98 Berlin and the sporting connection north-north-west Berlin . Emperor Karl , as he was also called, even made it into the national team in 1920 . At the age of 34 he was also the oldest debutant of all time. He made his debut on September 26, 1920 against Austria , which Germany lost 3-2. By 1922 he had at least six international matches, but did not score a goal.

He then continued his club career in 1923 at Hertha BSC . With the team he was among other things German runner-up in 1926 , 1927 and 1928 . He played here until 1928 and then ended his career.
