Hans Saxl

Johann Paul Saxl

Johann Paul "Hans" Saxl (born January 22, 1920 in Sterzing ; † January 4, 2008 in Sterzing) was an Italian politician from South Tyrol .

Saxl worked professionally as an innkeeper. In 1945 he joined the South Tyrolean People's Party (SVP) , which had just been founded . In 1947 he was appointed acting mayor of his hometown Sterzing by the American occupation forces, and from 1952 to 1963 he was elected mayor. In the parliamentary elections in 1963 he succeeded in winning a mandate for the SVP in the Italian Senate , which he held until 1968.
