Hans Schleimer
Hans Schleimer (born March 6, 1878 in Nesselthal near Gottschee , Krain , † July 1, 1931 in Graz ) was an Austrian librarian and the founder of an indexing system.
Schleimer had a doctorate in maths and from 1908 until his death librarian at the University Library in Graz , where he was a specialist in cataloging. He created the subject catalog of the University Library Graz and began to create his own subject index for various sciences. He was able to complete mathematics in 1926. The publication of the entire system, planned for 1931, was prevented by his death. Keywords according to Schleimer's rules were assigned at the University Library in Graz until 1993. For the subject indexing of the holdings acquired between 1926 and 1993, the catalog based on his system is still in use today (2010).
