Hans Schnyder from Wartensee

Hans Schnyder von Wartensee (* 1895 , † 1987 ) was a Swiss lawyer . He was governor of the Swiss Lieutenancy of the Knightly Order of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem .

family

He came from the Lucerne patrician family of Schnyder von Wartensee . In 1925 Hans Schnyder von Wartensee married Hilda Segesser von Brunegg in the house chapel "Maria zum Schnee" at Tannenfels Castle near Nottwil .

Life

Schnyder studied law and received his doctorate in 1922 at the University of Bern with the thesis The establishment of mortgage note and validity for traffic and the defenses of the debtor according to Art. 872 of the Swiss Civil Code as a doctor of law.

From 1942 to 1945 Schnyder von Wartensee was an officer, most recently a lieutenant colonel , of the Roman Pontifical Swiss Guard (GSP - Guardia Svizzera Pontificia). In 1959 he was involved in founding the association "La Guardia".

He was President of the Magistral Delegation (1947–1950) and founded the Order of Knights in Switzerland. From 1950 to 1967 he was the first governor of the Swiss Lieutenancy of the Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem . From 1951 to 1963 he also headed the German-Swiss section of the order.

In 1978 he donated parts of his estate to the Lucerne State Archives. a. Documents of the politician Julius Schnyder von Wartensee .
