Hans Stanek (Manager)

Hans Stanislav Stanek (born January 27, 1916 in Zurich ; † June 29, 2009 ) was a Swiss car manager, racing driver and sports official.

Life and career

Stanek finished his school career with a diploma from the commercial school in Zurich and began his professional career in 1934 in the automotive trade. From 1943 to 1972 he worked for the AMAG Group . Stanek became director in 1952 and general manager in 1968 . In January 1972, Stanek, who had previously been the most successful car seller in Switzerland, was dismissed by the AMAG Group at Volkswagen's request with full salary and extensive pension commitments . Three days later, Toyota Switzerland appointed him its new general manager. In 1982 Toyota separated from Stanek and he became General Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the newly founded Nissan Schweiz AG. From 1984 Stanek worked as a consultant for automobile dealers. From 1986 he worked as a taxi driver in the Schwerzenbach community for one year .

Stanek was involved with the Lions Club Zurich for many years . He was married and had four children.

Sports

As a teenager, Stanek played football at FC Unterstrass . Later he was an active swimmer. From 1949 on, Stanek took part in Swiss mountain races in a VW Beetle . In 1952 he switched to Porsche and from 1953 drove a Glöckler-Porsche 1500 Super . Stanek ended active automobile racing in 1956. Until 1975 he was also involved as a racing instructor.

Sports official

Stanek joined the FC Zurich football club's supporters' association in 1965 and was also its president for eight years. He was later appointed to the board of directors of FC Zurich, to which he was a member for ten years. From 1984 to 1986 Stanek was President of FC Zurich.
