Hans Strobel (born February 26, 1881 in Weiden in the Upper Palatinate ; † February 6, 1953 in Dortmund ) was a German architect and town planner .

biography

Strobel began studying architecture at the Technical University of Munich , was already working independently as an architect during this time and graduated with honors in 1907. He then worked until 1910 as an employee in an architecture office and in municipal services in Bremen , where he dealt with issues of urban expansion. From 1910 to 1914 he headed the city expansion office of Leipzig for four and a half years . In October 1914 he went to Dortmund as a municipal building officer for building construction and building police . After almost a year, he was elected to the city council, this position was saved in 1927 after controversial discussions by a majority decision of the city committees. Strobel left the service and worked from then until 1948 as a freelance architect in Dortmund.

Construction projects initiated and carried out by Strobel as the municipal planning officer in Dortmund include the Volksbad Dortmund , the Rote Erde stadium , the main cemetery in Dortmund , the Volkspark Dortmund and the Westfalenhalle .
