Hans Water Fight & Co. was a lithographic art - institution as well as a stone, books and light printing . The company, based in Hannover was especially dedicated to the printing of luxury - papers , labels and posters , but in addition also maintained a cardboard -Fabrik and a publisher .

history

The family name and with it the namesake for the later Wasserkampf company appeared for the first time in the address book, city and business manual of the royal residence city of Hanover and the city of Linden for the year 1880. This was recorded by Hans Wasserkampf with the job title lithographer, initially with residence on the second floor of the apartment building Warmbüchenkamp 8 . Seven years later he was still only working as a lithographer, but now resident in the Bel Etage at - then - Marschnerstrasse 53 . In 1887, the accountant and authorized signatory of the Jewish banking house A. Molling, Gustav Löding (1853–1908 / 09), together with Wasserkampf founded the joint enterprise “Hans Wasserkampf und Comp. 9, north of downtown Striehlstraße 9 . Commanditgesellschaft ". The company was the sole tenant of the building, the landlord being the businessman Jakob Salomon, who lives at Ohestrasse 2 .

In 1890 the A. Molling bank bought itself directly into the company Hans Wasserkampf & Comp. KG, although Adolf Molling (1830–1894), who was born in Hildesheim, started his own printing company A. Molling & Comp. at Schneiderberg near the Technical University.

Also in 1890, the company, which had previously only acted as a printing, luxury paper and cardboard company, sent a copy of the office building by Hans Wasserkampf & Comp, which has been preserved in the German National Library to this day . provided - business circular, in which the sale of a publishing house of oil print pictures by the Berlin-based company E. Hoppe & Co. to Hans Wasserkampf & Comp. was informed. On December 5, 1890, the entry was made in the commercial register in Molling, Wasserkampf & Comp., Limited partnership .

Soon afterwards, the business partners Molling and Wasserkampf must have separated again, especially since the Hanover address book for 1896 to which now only as the company Hans Wasserkampf , Stein-, Buch- u. Collotype printing company registered the rear building at Hainhölzer Strasse 40 as a new address . In addition to the eponymous manufacturer Hans Wasserkampf, the owner was now also the businessman Wilhelm Hapke .

By 1901 at the latest, the company had changed its name to Wasserkampf & Robby and cooperated as a printing company with the publishing house of the Volksschriften-Verein zu Hannover , e.g. for 12 chromolithographed postcards related to the Kingdom of Hanover , elaborately bound in silk under the title Memories of the Royal Hanoverian Army 1866 . During a hearing in the United States in front of the House of Representatives , the lithographer, drawing artist and engraver August Falk stated, among other things, that between 1903 and 1905 he had earned 25 marks a week for a 48-hour week at Wasserkampf and Robby as an employee and in During these years the company processed orders from numerous other companies from Germany.
