Hans Wendt (writer)

Hans Wendt (born June 23, 1878 in Neubrandenburg ; † May 8, 1922 ibid) was a German writer who published in High and Low German . He satirically described the political conditions in Mecklenburg-Strelitz in the period before and after the First World War .

Life

Hans Wendt, son of a businessman, attended grammar school in Neubrandenburg and then learned the trade of a businessman in Nauen and Berlin . He founded his own company in Düsseldorf in 1902 . After the death of his brother in 1904 he returned to Neubrandenburg, where he took over the inheritance from his father.

In 1906 he began to publish poems, novels and political writings in High and Low German. Hostile by his critical writings, he left Neubrandenburg again in 1912. After traveling through Russia and Scandinavia , he worked as the main editor in Hirschberg in Silesia .

During the First World War he was wounded several times and worked for the remainder of the war as a commercial manager at Siemens & Halske AG . After the war he opened a new shop in Neubrandenburg and worked on the Neubrandenburger Zeitung .

In addition to newspaper articles and pamphlets, Wendt also satirically dealt with the political situation in Mecklenburg-Strelitz in novels.
