Hans Werner (politician, 1900)

Hans Werner (born December 13, 1900 in Karlsfeld , Amtshauptmannschaft Schwarzenberg , † October 1, 1977 in Berlin ) was a German politician ( KPD / SED ) and resistance fighter against the Nazi regime . He was a member of the Prussian state parliament .

Life

Werner, son of a glass smelter, learned his father's trade. Since 1915 he was organized in a union. After his apprenticeship, he went on a hike and then stayed in Niederlausitz . In 1917 he joined the Independent Social Democratic Party of Germany (USPD) and became a member of its leadership in Spremberg . In June 1918 he was drafted into the military.

After his return in 1919 he worked again as a glassblower in Haidemühl . At the end of 1920 he joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD). From 1925 to 1930 he was a member of the extended KPD district leadership in Berlin-Brandenburg. After a three-month visit to the Reichsparteischule in spring 1929, Werner became head of organization of the KPD sub-district of Lausitz in May 1929. In December 1930 he was appointed to the Reich Committee of the Revolutionary Trade Union Opposition , Chemistry, Glass and Ceramics Department. In April 1932 Werner was elected to the Prussian state parliament in the constituency of Potsdam.

On the night of the Reichstag fire , he was taken into “ protective custody ”, imprisoned in Berlin-Spandau and released after a fortnight. He then worked as a courier for the Central Committee of the KPD. Werner was arrested again on April 25, 1933 and taken to the Oranienburg brewery concentration camp . He was released in early June 1934. After his release he worked in the Haidemühl glass factory until 1941.

On May 10, 1945 Werner was appointed district administrator of the Hoyerswerda district by the Soviet military administration . From July 1, 1948, he worked as head of department in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the State Government of Saxony , and later in the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of the GDR. Most recently he worked as a lecturer and head of the Institute for Forest Economics at the Technical University of Dresden until 1966 .
