Hans Wolf von Schönberg (politician)

Hans Wolf von Schönberg (born May 4, 1539 , † December 8, 1603 in Pulsnitz ) was an electoral Saxon politician from the Schönberg family .

Life

Hans Wolf's father was Wolf von Schönberg auf Schönau, war captain and governor of Rochlitz, under Elector Moritz Field Marshal in the battle of Sievershausen . His half-brothers were called Georg, Moritz and Caspar , his sister Anna married Rudolf von Gersdorf on Güteborn, his other sister was called Margareta. In his youth he lived at the ducal Prussian court, then he became a chamberlain under Elector August . In 1563 he married Ursula von Carlowitz (1545-1618), they had four surviving sons and five daughters, two of whom were still unsupervised when their father died.

In 1571 he entered French services. He was a colonel under Henry III. and Vice-Marshal under Elector August.

On February 4, 1580 he bought Pulsnitz with the Pertinenzorten from the von Schlieben brothers for 31,000 guilders , with the corresponding Saxon goods he was enfeoffed on February 5, 1580, with the Bohemian on March 1, 1580. In the enfeoffment “in whole hands “Included his brothers

In 1586 he was appointed court marshal against his will by Elector Christian I. He was also colonel rider and governor of Stolpen and Radeberg.

In 1590 he returned to his estates and added Niedergurig to them. He withdrew the lower jurisdiction of the Pulsnitz council and the councilors attempted murder against him. The perpetrator was " beaten to a distemper " and expelled from the country. In 1593 his subjects brought an action against him at the emperor. Many left their farms. The Pulsnitz pastor Andreas Riccius the Elder J., who supported the rebels, was deposed.

The funeral sermon given by the court preacher Polykarp Leiser from Dresden on the occasion of his funeral was published by Matthes Stoeckel in Dresden.
