Hans Zeimentz

Hans Zeimentz (born May 5, 1939 in Röhl , Eifel ) is a German moral theologian and former rector of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences (KFH) Mainz.

Life

Hans Zeimentz studied theology and philosophy at the University of Trier from 1958 to 1962, in addition to German studies and history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz . He initially worked as a specialist theological publisher and in 1966 became a research assistant to Josef Georg Ziegler at the chair for moral theology in Mainz. In 1972 he was at the Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz with a thesis on the marriage according to the teaching of early scholasticism doctorate .

In 1976, he received a call to the first professor of moral theology and Christian social teaching of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences . He was Dean of the Faculty of Practical Theology, Vice-Rector and Rector of the University from 1985 to 1989 and 1997 to 2001 . In 2004 he retired.

Act

He was significantly involved in the development of the Catholic University of Applied Sciences (KFH) Mainz. In 1986 he was also involved in the university society Forum Sociale Mainz . The Institute for Further Education (ifw), founded in 1989, and the first cooperation agreement with a foreign university, the Jabok Academy for Social Pedagogy and Theology in Prague, in 2001, is thanks to his initiative.

From 1988 to 1996 Zeimentz was involved in the Catholic Council and in the diocesan assembly of the Diocese of Mainz . He has been active in local politics for more than 20 years, such as candidate for mayor of Ober-Olm and chairman of the CDU parliamentary group .

At the suggestion of Prime Minister Kurt Beck , he was awarded the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany by the Federal President Horst Köhler in 2007 .

He is a member of the Catholic student association KDSt.V. Churtrier Trier in the CV .
