Dr. Hans Zollner, SJ

Hans Zollner SJ (* 1966 in Regensburg ) is a German religious priest , theologian and psychologist . He has been a member of the Jesuits since 1990 . After graduating from the Werner-von-Siemens-Gymnasium in Regensburg, he studied philosophy and theology in Regensburg and Innsbruck . Since 2003 he has been teaching at the Institute of Psychology at the Pontifical Gregorian University in Rome. Zollner has been the academic vice-rector of the Gregorian since 2010.

Zollner is regarded as one of the leading ecclesiastical experts in the field of sexual abuse in the Roman Catholic Church . He has been a member of the Pontifical Commission for the Protection of Minors and Head of the Center for Child Protection (CCP) based in Rome since 2014 . He was a member of the sub-working group “Research and Teaching” of the working group set up by the German Federal Government Round Table on Child Sexual Abuse .

Zollner formulated to child protection as a work of mercy , "because Jesus of the children says them the kingdom of God belongs, and that for anyone who causes you to sin, is better with a millstone to be thrown into the sea."

On April 1, 2017, Pope Francis appointed him Consultor of the Congregation for the Clergy .
