Hans Zwiefelhofer

Hans Zwiefelhofer (born April 29, 1932 in Aussig ; † July 3, 2008 in Unterhaching ) was a German Jesuit and social scientist.

Life

Hans Zwiefelhofer joined the order of the Jesuits in Pullach in 1951 . After his philosophy studies at the Munich School of Philosophy and Theology studies at the Philosophy and Theology Sankt Georgen Graduate School he received on 31 July 1963 by Augustin Cardinal Bea , the ordination in Munich.

He stayed repeatedly on study visits to Latin America and received his doctorate in 1967 from the University of Freiburg . In 1967 he became director of the Heinrich Pesch House in Ludwigshafen. In 1971 he became professor for social sciences, social and development policy and director of the institute for social policy at the University of Philosophy in Munich; from 1976 to 1982 he was also rector of the university.

He held several offices in the Jesuit order. Zwiefelhofer was Prefect of Studies of the then Upper German Province (1973–1979), Provincial of the then Upper German Province (1984–1987), Regional Assistant to the Central European Assistant to the General Curia in Rome (1987–1995) and Secretary of the Society of Jesus in Rome (1992–2001) .
