Hans von Dieskau (* around 1518 ; † January 24, 1563 ) was an Imperial General Feldzeugmeister as well as War Commissioner and fortress builder from the Electoral Saxony .

Life

Hans was a member of the Saxon noble family von Dieskau . From 1541 Hans von Dieskau worked as a senior builder in Leipzig . He worked as a master builder in Denmark from July 1, 1558, where he is considered to be one of the first architects of the Renaissance with a European standard. He made the improvements to the Krogens in 1558 and the 1560 project to convert Krogen Castle into Kronborg Fortress . In the same year Hans von Dieskau returned to Kursachsen, where he became General Field Master, last he entered the service of the Emperor in Prague, where he died in 1563 as General Field Master.

He was the owner of the two manors Lochau and Glesien . At Mardi Gras in 1554 he married Maria von Witzleben at the Dresden court .

His epitaph can still be found today on the outer wall of the Church of St. Anna in Lochau near Landsberg.

Dietrich von Dieskau († 1583 in the company against France) on Lochau and Otto von Dieskau († 1586, without children) were his two surviving sons.
