Hans von Felgenhauer

Hans Georg Gustav Heinrich von Felgenhauer , origin. von Felgenhauer von und zu Riesa (born November 30, 1863 in Tilsit ; † April 24, 1946 in Berlin-Steglitz ), was a Prussian major general and (military) writer and poet.

Life

Hans came from the Saxon noble family von Felgenhauer from Riesa . He was the fifth and youngest child of the Prussian major Florentin Friedrich von Felgenhauer (1811–81) and his wife Johanna, née Ermold (1835–1902).

Felgenhauer embarked on a military career in the Prussian army . During this period he was captain and company commander in the infantry regiment "von Boyen" (5th East Prussian) No. 41 . Since June 16, 1911 Major , Felgenhauer was then with the staff of the infantry regiment "von Goeben" (2nd Rheinisches) No. 28 and from 1912 commanded the 2nd Battalion in Koblenz .

During the First World War , Felgenhauer was seriously wounded at the front as commander of the Reserve Infantry Regiment No. 65 and received both classes of the Iron Cross and the Wound Badge for his services . After the end of the war, he resigned from military service as major general.

Felgenhauer belonged to the National Association of German Officers (NDO). He was a staunch emperor and remained a monarchist after 1918 . In Berlin he recited poems he had composed himself at meetings. He wrote u. a. also the federal song of the youth loyal to the emperor . In 1924 the first edition of his book Tritt gefasst - a collection of his poems - appeared in Berlin , to which Count Rüdiger von der Goltz wrote the preface . Another edition ("Kameradschaftsausgabe") of this work was published on the 8th Reichsfrontsoldatentag from 7th to 8th May 1927 in Berlin .

Felgenhauer was married to Gertrude, nee Muhl (* 1882), since 1905. The couple lived in Memel and most recently in Berlin-Steglitz .
