Hansjörg Kohlbecher

Hansjörg Kohlbecher (born April 19, 1895 in Konz ; † May 11, 1981 in Saarbrücken ) was a German entrepreneur and politician.

Life

Kohlbecher attended the Friedrich-Wilhelm Gymnasium in Trier and took part in the First World War as a volunteer. Returning as a reserve officer, he completed his studies in law and political science at the universities of Bonn , Giessen and Würzburg . In Giessen he was a member of the Corps Hassia . In 1920 he received his doctorate. jur. et rer. pole. In 1932 he founded the Kohlbecher & Co company in Saarbrücken, which developed into the largest mine timber supplier for Saarbergwerke . After the Second World War, because of the political situation in Trier, he had to set up a new company under the same name, which was one of the largest private companies in the pit timber industry and was involved in several wood processing companies in southern Germany and was also active in furniture production. In 1950, Kohlbecher also acquired a grocery wholesaler, which in the 1970s operated 50 branches in Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate under the name DEKO Lebensmittel GmbH (Dehler & Kohlbecher); this company was known because it was the first in the region to introduce self-service in the grocery trade would have.

Along with Hermann Röchling , Wilhelm Schmelzer, Franz Levacher and Peter Kefer, Kohlbecher belonged to the delegation that was supposed to represent Saarland interests at the League of Nations in Geneva. After the Second World War he campaigned for the integration of the Saar region into the Federal Republic. His house in Saarbrücken was a regular meeting place for Saarland and West German politicians. It was there that preparations were made to found the "Saarbrücker Neuesten Nachrichten". Kohlbecher was friends with Konrad Adenauer and co-founder of the CDU in the Saar area and after its official approval in July 1955 its first treasurer. In 1959 he participated in the unification of the two Christian parties CDU and CVP .

In 1961 Hansjörg Kohlbecher became consul, in 1966 consul general of the Kingdom of Greece.
