Hansjörg Vogel

Hansjörg Vogel (born March 16, 1951 in Bern ) is a Swiss theologian . He was Roman Catholic Bishop of Basel from 1994 until his resignation in 1995 .

Life

Hansjörg Vogel was ordained a priest on November 28, 1976 . After his election as Bishop of Basel and confirmation by Pope John Paul II , he was ordained bishop on April 4, 1994. The episcopal ordination received his his predecessor, Otto Wüst . Co- consecrators were the Bishop of Lausanne, Geneva and Friborg , Pierre Mamie , and the Basel Auxiliary Bishop Joseph Candolfi .

On June 2, 1995, Vogel resigned from his position after it became known that he would soon be a father. He then married the then 42-year-old mother of his daughter, who was born in September 1995.

From 1996 to 1998 he worked as a project manager at the refugee service of the Swiss Workers' Relief Organization and was then a research assistant at the therapy center of the Swiss Red Cross for victims of torture in Bern. In addition, he trained as an analytical psychologist at the Carl Gustav Jung Institute in Küsnacht . From January 2001 until his early retirement in 2011, he was the commissioner for foreigners and integration for the canton of Lucerne .
