The Happy Hippie Foundation is a non-profit organization that aims to support young people in the fight against unfair treatment. The focus here is particularly on easily vulnerable groups, such as the homeless , homosexuals and bisexuals . The organization was founded on September 17, 2014 by the American singer Miley Cyrus .

history

The organization was founded after Cyrus worked with My Friend's Place, an organization that supports homeless youth, to accept and speak at their 2014 MTV Video Music Awards for Best Video of the Year. On May 5th, 2015 the Happy Hippie Foundation was officially presented. On the same day, Cyrus' project "Backyard Sessions" was presented, in which she recorded music videos with other singers in her garden. The recorded songs are cover versions of songs that address the focus of the organization.

Backyard Sessions

At the Backyard Sessions, Cyrus played various cover versions of titles in her garden that are related to the theme of the Happy Hippie Organization. They were taken in the garden of Cyrus' home in Los Angeles in early 2015 and presented on Facebook and later on Vevo from May 5-18, 2015 . Cyrus sang with Joan Jett , Laura Jane Grace , Melanie Safka and Ariana Grande , among others .

#InstaPride

The #InstaPride project served to enable people from the groups addressed by the organization to tell their stories. For this purpose, the social network Instagram was used, where a collection of such stories can be found under the hashtag #InstaPride.
