Harald Fryklöf

Harald Leonard Fryklöf (born September 14, 1882 in Uppsala , † March 11, 1919 in Stockholm ) was a Swedish organist, music teacher and composer.

Life

Fryklöf studied composition and counterpoint at the Royal Swedish Academy of Music in Stockholm from 1902 to 1905 , where he graduated as an organist in 1903. In 1905 he took instrumentation lessons with Philipp Scharwenka in Berlin. From 1904 to 1910 he was a piano student of Richard Andersson , at whose music school he also taught. In 1908 he became organist at the Storkyrkan and at the same time teacher at the Stockholm Conservatory.

As a composer, Fryklöf stood out primarily with songs and piano works, he also composed a. a. also several motets, sacred choral songs a cappella and other church music works as well as a violin sonata, which is considered one of his best works. In 1916 he published a textbook for harmony theory. Fryklöf died of Spanish flu in 1919 at the age of thirty-six .
