Harald Fuhr

Harald Fuhr (born March 22, 1954 in Bad Schwalbach ) is a German political scientist .

Life

From 1972 to 1979, Fuhr studied political science, sociology, economics and history at the University of Frankfurt am Main and the Philipps University of Marburg . From 1980 to 1982 he was a scholarship holder of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in South America. He then worked as a research assistant and assistant at the University of Konstanz . In 1985 he became farmers and party officials with his dissertation . A study on the political dynamics of the Peruvian agricultural sector 1969–1981 for Dr. rer. soc. PhD. In 1993 he completed his habilitation and became a private lecturer .

Fuhr was Senior Public Sector Management Specialist for Latin America and the Caribbean at the World Bank in Washington, DC from 1993 to 1997. He was also the lead author of the 1997 World Development Report . Since then he has been Professor of International Politics at the University of Potsdam's Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences . From 2006 to 2009 he coordinated the Collaborative Research Center 700 “Governance in Areas of Limited Statehood: New Forms of Governance?” . His main research interests are governance in developing countries, international development and climate change .

He is also a consultant for international organizations and the like. a. the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the World Bank and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP). Fuhr has previously been visiting professor at York University in Toronto, Universidad de Costa Rica in San Jose, Sedat Academy for Management Sciences in Cairo, University of Milan and the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) in Bangkok.
