Harald Hofmann (politician)

Harald Hofmann (born October 14, 1940 in Sankt Johann im Pongau ) is a former Austrian politician of the SPÖ , journalist and insurance employee. Hofmann was a member of the Austrian National Council from 1983 to 1996 .

education and profession

Hofmann learned the profession of typesetter after compulsory school and was subsequently employed as typesetter, metter and teletype typesetter in a Salzburg printing company. From 1967 to 1971 he worked as an editor for the “Demokratisches Volksblatt” (later the Salzburger Tagblatt ) and in 1971 switched to the insurance industry. He initially worked for the Wiener Allianz from 1971 to 1975 and then from 1975 to 1983 as divisional manager of the Pongau , Lungau and Pinzgau areas for the Wiener Städtische Wechselseiten Versicherungsgesellschaft . At the same time, Hofmann remained active as a journalist and wrote as a freelance journalist for the Salzburger Tagblatt, the "Pongauer Nachrichten" and the ORF .

politics

Hofmann has been a member of the SPÖ since 1962 and was involved as a functionary and shop steward of the SPÖ in St. Johann and Bischofshofen . He also worked as a press officer for the SPÖ Pongau and was a member of the district committee in 1967. From 1980 he was also a member of the SPÖ municipal council group of Bischofshofen and was elected to the board and secretary of the board of the SPÖ Pongau that year. Furthermore, from 1984 to 1996 he held the office of district party chairman in the Pongau district and from 1989 he was regional chairman of Naturfreunde Salzburg. Hofmann represented the SPÖ in the National Council from May 19, 1983 to January 14, 1996. He was the agricultural spokesman for the SPÖ parliamentary club.
