The Haramosh II is a mountain in the Karakoram -Gebirge in Pakistan .
location
The 6666 m high Haramosh II is located in the Rakaposhi Haramosh Mountains in the "Lesser Karakoram". It is connected to Haramosh ( 7406 m ), 12.94 km southwest, via a mountain ridge . In between there is a 5700 m saddle and Mani Peak ( 6685 m ), a secondary peak of the Haramosh. Along the western flank of Haramosh II, the Haramosh Glacier flows in a northerly direction to the Chogolungma Glacier . On the opposite side of the Haramosh Glacier, Laila Peak ( 6986 m ) rises in a north-westerly direction . In the east, the Eastern Haramosh Glacier separates Haramosh II from the Paraber ( 6321 m ).
Ascent history
The Haramosh II was first climbed by a British expedition in 1995. Their ascent route led from the Chogolungma Glacier over a mountain spur on the northwest side of the mountain to the summit. A group of three consisting of Brian Davison, Colin Wells and Dave Wilkinson reached the summit first on August 6th. Paul Nunn and Geoff Tier followed them to the summit on the same day, but had a fatal accident on the descent.
