Hard Rock Zombies is an American feature film from 1985. The alternate title is Heavy Metal Zombies .
action
The rock group "Silent Rage" comes to the small mountain town of Grand Guignol. However, the local population is anything but enthusiastic about rock music and bans the band from appearing because rock music encourages extra-marital sex and the like. Silent Rage are not impressed by this and make the city unsafe for the time being. This angered the city leaders even more. An old man offers the band his property to perform. There they give a concert - in front of six people in total - and you try to kill them. The performance is still a complete success.
A short time later, however, it becomes clear who the old man really is: It is Adolf Hitler who is preparing his world conquest. He has his assistants kill the band and bury them in the garden, not very deep. However, one of the musicians has previously recorded a melody that can bring the dead back to life. The cassette he receives prior Cassie with the song that has fallen in love with him. When Cassie plays the tune, Silent Rage rises from their graves again. And with them an army of zombies that overrun the city.
An old man has the idea that residents should wear huge pictures of heads, as zombies are known to be afraid of heads. People take to the streets with these masks on and are expected to be eaten as the zombies' fear of heads has nothing to do with reality. The only hope now is the undead rockers. First of all, they give a concert, but no one is present except Cassie and an enthusiastic music agent . When the remaining residents capture Cassie and want to offer a virgin sacrifice to stop the zombies, Silent Rage intervenes. With the help of their music they lure the undead into Hitler's secret gas chamber, where they (including Hitler) perish. The band then returns to their graves.

"A disgusting and abstruse horror film that tries in vain to construct its grotesque from the connection between the rock music business and zombie mischief."
Awards
In 2009 the film was awarded the “Golden Riding Body” as the best B-Movie . According to the jury, the film is an example of everything that a B-movie stands for in the general perception: a lack of professionalism and realism, a bad script and weak actors. Nevertheless, the film manages to develop considerable entertainment value in its own way. In this context, among other things, the film music was praised.
Trivia
- The name of the city, Grand Guignol , is an allusion to a French theater genre of grotesquely trivial horror and horror pieces.
- The film was originally only planned as a 20-minute short film for drive-in theaters. In the course of filming, however, it was decided to produce a full film.
