Hariolf Grupp

Hariolf Grupp (born July 3, 1950 in Ellwangen ; † January 20, 2009 in Karlsruhe ) was a German economist .

Life

After obtaining a diploma in physics and passing the state examination in mathematics at the University of Heidelberg , Grupp received his doctorate there in 1978. His interest in game theory led him to economics , where he completed his habilitation in 1997 at the Technical University of Berlin . Research trips took him to Jerusalem, Karlsruhe, Tbilisi, Grenoble and Cambridge (USA).

Between 1980 and 1984 he was a consultant in the scientific service of the German Bundestag and in the Federal Ministry for Research and Technology (BMFT). In 1984 he joined the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research (ISI) in Karlsruhe. There he was appointed deputy director of the institute in 1996 and, after Frieder Meyer-Krahmer moved to the Federal Ministry of Education and Research, took over provisional management of the institute from 2005 to March 31, 2007. On January 1, 2001, he was appointed university professor at the University of Karlsruhe , where he held the chair for system dynamics and innovation at the Institute for Economic Policy and Economic Research. Since February 28, 2007 he has been Deputy Chairman of the Expert Commission on Research and Innovation appointed by the Federal Government .

Grupp is the author of numerous publications on industrial economics , innovation economics and technology management . In 1993 he conducted the first Delphi survey on the development of science and technology in Germany.
