history

On April 14, 1971 Werner Hark founded the company Hark GmbH & CO.KG for the manufacture and sale of fireplaces and tiled stoves . In the production hall of the Duisburg industrial park Mevissen, the chimneys and tiled stoves were prefabricated in modular design and then finally assembled by the customer. In addition to production, shipping was controlled centrally from Duisburg and the nationwide branches and warehouses were supplied with goods. 1985 the purchase of a tile factory in Ransbach-Baumbach in the Westerwald for the own production of stove tiles . The clay required for the production of the stove tiles is obtained here and can be processed on site. In 1990 HARK bought another tile factory in Wiesau , Bavaria, to expand its own production of stove tiles.

The first sales branch in the new federal states was opened in Berlin-Fredersdorf. With the founding of HARK sro, sales of the products in the Czech Republic began, initially through a separate branch in Prague. A comprehensive dealer network was then set up.

With the founding of HARK Polska Sp.zo.o, sales in Poland could be started, initially through our own branch in Warsaw, then through a nationwide dealer network. In October 2005, the marble factory in Macael, Spain was taken over. With the establishment of HARK Marmoles SLU, sales began in Spain and the establishment of a nationwide dealer network.

At the beginning of 2006, the product range was expanded to include the EasyTherm stainless steel chimney system. On December 29, 2006, the sons Udo Hark joined the company as a further managing director and Michael Hark as a partner. HARK introduced the ECOplus technology developed with the Fraunhofer Institutes in Dresden and Stuttgart. This technology reduces wood consumption and at the same time lowers fine dust emissions .

ECOPLUS

In 2008 the Fraunhofer Institute in Dresden and Stuttgart developed a new type of technology together with the HARK company, which reduces the fuel consumption of a fireplace by up to 40 percent. The filter technology called ECOplus, through the use of catalysts on a ceramic foam , promises a higher degree of efficiency, lower wood consumption and pollutant values that are far below the norm of the 1st Federal Immission Control Ordinance . The further development of the ECOplus filter is a catalyst which ensures an additional reduction in gaseous pollutants . The limit values of the Federal Immission Control Ordinance of 40 mg / m³ fine dust and 1250 mg / m³ carbon monoxide are undercut through the use of the filter and the catalytic converter.

Awards

  • 2009: Initiative Prize NRW for the development of ECOplus technology.
  • 2010: The ECOplus combustion chamber concept was awarded a gold medal at the 38th Inventions Geneva in Geneva.
