The sorceress Meeme foresees the theft and calls on her friends, Captain Harlock, space pirate Esmeraldas and the inventor Tochirou Oyama.

To use the gold, it has to be forged in the shape of a ring. Since this technique is only used by Dr. Daiba ruled the earth, the thief of gold travels there. When Captain Harlock and his friends reach Earth, they learn that Dr. Daiba died long ago but passed his ability on to his son Tadachi Daiba. This was forced by the thief to make the ring with which he is now with his fleet on the way to Walhalla, the center of the universe.

reception

The German journal AnimaniA writes of anime as a mixture of leisurely plot development and epic science fiction. The result is a monumental space opera with matching sounds by Wagner. In doing so, however, a lot of time is left with the action and frequently repeated explanations are disturbing. At the beginning, the story also focuses more on supporting characters from other series by Leiji Matsumoto, so that Captain Harlock comes into the spotlight very late. The German dubbed version was successful.
