Harold D. Arnold

Harold DeForest Arnold (born September 3, 1883 in Woodstock , Connecticut , † July 10, 1933 in Summit , New Jersey ) was an American pioneer of vacuum tube technology.

Harold D. Arnold studied at Wesleyan University in Middletown , where he received his master's degree in 1907, and at the University of Chicago , where he received his doctorate in 1911.

At AT&T , he did research on electron tubes . From 1917 to 1924 he was head of research at Western Electric , and in 1925 he became director of research at Bell Telephone Laboratories .
