Harold Daniel Hope Elletson (born December 8, 1960 ) is a British politician and security expert who works as an international communications and public relations consultant.

Harold Elletson attended Eton College , studied at the University of Exeter , the University of Voronezh in the Soviet Union , the Polytechnic of Central London and the University of Bradford (PhD). There he received his doctorate in social sciences as Doctor of Philosophy with the PhD thesis The Changing Face of the Military in Soviet and Russian Politics, 1968-1997: a study of military service and the political career of Lieutenant General Alexander Ivanovich Lebed (1998) . From 1992 to 1997 he was a Member of Parliament (MP) for the Tories for Blackpool North . He joined the Liberal Democrats in 2002 . Since 2006 he has been director of the New Security Foundation , which researches the effects of the new security environment on civil society. According to its own information, it offers an international forum for dialogue between the public and private sector and provides analytical insights and information about new security conditions. The foundation regularly organizes events and conferences, including the annual 'International Forum on E-Learning for Defense and Security'.

Previously, Elletson was the director of the NATO Forum on Business and Security , which was created with the support of the NATO Science Program . The forum brought together academics, business people and political leaders.

According to the article "Pro-Serb Tory-MP was MI6 Agent" and "Honorable member's life as a spy" in The Observer on December 22, 1996, Elletson is said to have been a former agent of the British foreign intelligence service MI6 in Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

In 2015 he was one of the founders of the Northern Party , a party that works to better represent the north of England .

Elletson is a writer on political and historical subjects. His book The General Against the Kremlin ( General against the Kremlin ) to the Russian General Alexander Lebed was published by Little Brown. He speaks fluent Russian.

He has been married to Fiona Margaret Ferguson since 1987 and they have two sons.
