Harold Nye

Harold Edwin Nye (born August 7, 1896 or 1899 in Los Angeles , † August 10, 1965 ) was an American electrician who worked for Warner Bros. in the late 1920s to at least the mid-1940s .

He was honored with a Technical Achievement Award at both the Academy Awards in 1940 and 1947 , initially for a miniature incandescent spot lamp , and later together with the studio's electrical department for the development of an electronically controlled fire and gaslight effect .

His parents were Elmer Eugene Nye (1861-1951) and Julia Maria (nee Powers; 1857-1925). He had five siblings. He was married to Ethel Irene Geidner.
