Harriet B. Creighton
Harriet Baldwin Creighton (born June 27, 1909 in Delevan , Illinois , † January 9, 2004 ) was an American biologist and professor of botany and genetics. Creighton studied at Wellesley College until 1929 and received his PhD from Cornell University in 1933 . As part of her dissertation in 1931, she and Barbara McClintock explained the process of crossing-over .
After receiving her PhD, she taught at Cornell University and Connecticut College . She then taught again in Wellesley until her retirement in 1974.
