The Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey mapped it using aerial photographs from Hunting Aerosurveys Ltd. from 1956 to 1957. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named him in 1960 after Leslie Harris, carpenter and assistant to the FIDS on the station on Danco Island in 1956, who participated in the FIDS exploration trips from this station and at that time was involved from the neighboring Portal Point .
