Harro Günther (born December 3, 1952 ) is a former German football player who played for FC Carl Zeiss Jena in the GDR Oberliga , the top division of GDR football, in 1974/75 .

Athletic career

In 1966, at the age of thirteen, Harro Günther was accepted into the junior division of the top division club FC Carl Zeiss Jena. From 1969 to 1971 he played for FC in the junior league, but had his first appearances in the second-rate GDR league in the 1970/71 season , where he played five games for the second team of the FCC. Just one season later, Günther was a regular player in the 2nd team with 19 appearances in 22 league games, in which predominantly occupied the libero position . There he was also scheduled for the 1972/73 season, but had to do a one-year reservist service in the National People's Army from November . Günther only returned to FC Carl Zeiss in October 1973 and was given back his regular position as a sweeper. For the 1974/75 season Güther was again scheduled for the 2nd team. However, he was used both in the first half of the season and in the second half of the season in a total of seven league games, in which he replaced the regular Libero Helmut Stein . In addition, Günther played in 14 of the 22 GDR league games in the 2nd team. For the 1975/76 season Günther was intended for the league team, but was not considered there. In the second team, too, things did not go optimally for Günther, because he only played ten of the 22 point games. After he had come to 72 GDR league games with two goals and seven league games at the end of the season, Harro Günther left FC Carl Zeiss Jena. He joined the third-rate district league team of Motor Neustadt / Orla , where he remained active until 1987.
